The Biotope Mosaic, originally designed for 2020 Art Basel, transforms the building envelope into a breeding habitat for the Old World Swallowtail butterfly. The double-skin facade serves as a microcosm of Switzerland’s diverse ecosystem and is optimized to generate those daylight conditions best suited for the propagation of the Old World Swallowtail, and for those plants and animals on which it is reliant.Â
